Abstract
The nonlinear behaviour of concrete results mainly from the development of cracks. Within this work a discrete crack model with a fracture process zone is presented to simulate the behaviour of concrete under a highly dynamic load. In consideration of the strain rate effect and the Hugoniot-curve shock waves in concrete are calculated. The simulation of concrete loaded by a contact detonation shows good agreement with the experimental crack pattern.
